Drawing Tools
Master Chuzy's five drawing tools and their keyboard shortcuts.
Chuzy provides five drawing tools, all accessible from the toolbar or keyboard shortcuts.
Tool Reference
| Tool | Shortcut | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Pen | P | Freehand drawing with smooth quadratic curves |
| Eraser | E | Erase strokes from the current keyframe |
| Line | L | Draw straight lines between two points |
| Rectangle | R | Draw rectangles by click-dragging opposite corners |
| Circle | O | Draw ellipses by click-dragging from centre to edge |
Pen Tool
The pen is your primary drawing tool. Click and drag to draw freehand strokes. Chuzy smooths your strokes using quadratic Bézier curves for a natural look.
The pen uses the current stroke color and stroke width from the toolbar.
Eraser Tool
The eraser removes parts of existing strokes on the active keyframe. It works by compositing in destination-out mode — it effectively “cuts through” any stroke beneath it.
Tip
Eraser strokes are rendered as white in the canvas but use true alpha compositing during export, so transparent backgrounds export correctly.
Shape Tools (Line, Rectangle, Circle)
Click and drag to define the shape:
- Line: Click for the start point, drag to the end point.
- Rectangle: Click for one corner, drag to the opposite corner.
- Circle: Click for the centre, drag outward to define the radius. The ellipse fits the bounding box you drag.
All shape tools render as strokes (outlines only, no fill). They use the current color and stroke width.
Stroke Width
Select a stroke width from the toolbar dots (1–20 px). The selected size is highlighted in red.
Color
Pick a color from the 16-color swatch bar in the toolbar, or use the Palette Panel to load custom palettes.
Undo
Press ⌘+Z (Mac) or Ctrl+Z (Windows/Linux) to undo the last stroke. Chuzy keeps up to 50 undo steps.
Clear Layer
Click the trash icon in the toolbar to clear all strokes from the active layer’s current keyframe.
